Chevrolet Introduces Buckle to Drive Feature For 2020 Models

Chevrolet Buckle to Drive Feature

Chevrolet is continually looking to create innovations to provide a safer drive for drivers and passengers.  One area of particular focus is the safety of teen drivers.  Chevrolet's Teen Driver system was introduced in 2015 to encourage safe driving from new, inexperienced drivers.  Starting in 2020, Chevy is introducing a new addition to the Teen Driver system -- Buckle to Drive.  This feature will encourage drivers to make sure to buckle up before the vehicle can be driven.  This is because the system will prevent the vehicle from shifting out of park if the driver's side seat belt is not buckled.  It will also sound an audible alert and show 'Buckle seat belt to shift' in the Driver Information Center.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the simple process of buckling your seat belt is the top action drivers can take to be protected in a collision.  Providing this helpful reminder to drivers will hopefully lead drivers to creating the habit of seatbelt usage.

The Buckle to Drive feature will be standard on the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, 2020 Chevy Malibu, and 2020 Chevrolet Colorado.  Contact Emich Chevrolet near Denver for more information on this innovative safety technology.
