2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Features With Security In Mind

From Chevrolet.com:

Thwarting theft was a design focus of Chevrolet’s full-size SUVs. New standard features include a steering column lock that deters push-away and tow-away theft – a significant portion of today’s stolen vehicle incidents; side cut keys that deter lock picking and more robust door lock cylinders and shields to prevent access with slim jims and other tools.
Also new for 2015: Creative and hidden storage, such as a compartment behind the available infotainment screen; and third-row seats that are bolted down, all but eliminating theft of third-row seats, which are removable in the current generation full-size SUVs. In 2015 models, the second and third rows fold flat to make storing cargo easier.
Available on the Tahoe’s LT and LTZ models is a Theft Protection Package, which features   glass breakage sensors, interior motion sensors, and an inclination/tilt sensor – all of which sound an alarm if the vehicle is lifted off the ground, attempted to be broken into, or if motion is detected within the vehicle when the alarm is armed. Additional features reinforce key control systems to make it more difficult to start or move the vehicle without an authorized key.
Tahoe incorporates new technologies – including radar – that contributes to 360 degrees of crash avoidance and occupant protection. Standard and available features include forward collision alert, front park assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.
With lane change assist, the Tahoe’s warning aid helps drivers avoid crashes with vehicles in the next lane. Radar technology coverage is one lane over from both side mirrors and extends back approximately 70 meters from the side mirror. An orange vehicle symbol in side mirrors illuminates to alert the driver against changing lanes.
Chevrolet’s available Safety Alert Seat offers directional vibrations to alert the driver about potential crash threats. The GM-patented seat allows a driver to better grasp the direction of a potential crash threat than beeping that can compete with other noises in the vehicle.
The Tahoe also offers the segment’s only front-seat center air bag, in bucket-seat models. The front-seat center air bag is engineered to provide additional protection for drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle.
In addition, the all-new Tahoe has more high-strength steel in its frame, providing customers with greater protection in a crash.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado Redefines Midsize Truck Segment

Chevrolet recently unveiled the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.  It redefines the midsize truck segment.

From Chevrolet.com:

The new Colorado is built with the DNA of a true Chevy truck, expected to deliver class-leading power, payload and trailering ratings. Colorado goes on sale in fall 2014 as a 2015 model.
“Our strategy is simple: meet the needs of the broadest possible customer base, and let them choose precisely the right truck to meet their needs,” said Mark Reuss, General Motors executive vice president and president of GM North America. “The all-new Colorado benefits from the solid foundation established by the Silverado, and it reinvents the midsize truck while reinvigorating the segment at the same time.”
The new Colorado was developed for the North American truck customer, with distinctive design, comfort and connectivity features, including segment firsts such as available forward collision alert and lane departure warning.
Chevrolet expects Colorado to be the most powerful truck in the segment, allowing owners to haul and tow more. A 2.5L I-4 is standard, and a 3.6L V-6 is available. Each engine is tuned, tested and validated for truck use, and each features direct injection and variable valve timing to make the most of power and efficiency. Each is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the 2.5L is available with a six-speed manual transmission on extended cab 2WD Work Truck models.
When properly equipped, the Colorado is expected to offer class leading payload capacity and trailering capacity of more than 6,700 pounds (3,039 kg). That is more than enough capability to throw a weekend’s worth of camping gear in the bed and tow a boat to a favorite lake.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28: Racing Inspired Design

From Chevrolet.com:

When it comes to keeping its tail on the track, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 manages airflow like few other production vehicles, generating downforce like a race car to press the tires against the track for high-speed stability and greater cornering capability.
The new Camaro Z/28 is the fastest factory-produced Camaro ever on a track, with improved speed coming from three areas:
  • Increased grip: The Z/28 is capable of 1.08 g in cornering acceleration, due to comprehensive chassis revisions
  • Increased stopping power: The Z/28 features Brembo carbon ceramic brakes capable of 1.5 g in deceleration, and consistent brake feel, lap after lap
  • Reduced curb weight: The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1, with changes ranging from lightweight wheels to thinner rear-window glass.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado Features Innovative Cargo Box

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado features a cargo box that was designed with the consumer in mind.  Cargo box innovations allow consumers to see, secure and access cargo more easily.

From Chevrolet.com:

From design to functionality, the Silverado pickup box is engineered to be the most innovative cargo box in its segment with these features:
  • LED Box Lights – Located in the cargo box, under the side rails, the available lights turn on with the standard overhead box lamp and make it easier to find cargo in the bed, even under a tonneau cover.
  • EZ Lift & Lower Tailgate – An internal torsion bar reduces the effort to raise the tailgate while a rotary damper allows for a controlled and more gradual lowering motion when opening it.
  • CornerStep Bumper – Unique steps incorporated into the corners of the rear bumper are designed to accommodate work boots and can be used with the tailgate up or down.
  • Hand Grip Pockets – Located within the rails, at the rear of the cargo box, they provide easier access into the cargo box and work in tandem with the CornerStep Bumper.
  • Removable Upper Tie-Down Hooks – Allow maximum flexibility to secure cargo of varying shapes and sizes and can be placed in several locations around the cargo box.

2014 Chevrolet Impala Can Help Ease Night Driving Anxiety

From Chevrolet.com:

With Daylight Saving Time ending this Sunday, many people will drive in the dark more often. For those uneasy with night driving, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala can help brighten the task.
The enhanced visibility provided by Impala’s headlamps can help drivers avoid crashes after dark, the riskiest time of day. According to a study cited by the Federal Highway Administration, the risk of a fatality at night among drivers not impaired by alcohol is more than two times higher than in daytime due to less visibility.
According to a 2009 study conducted by the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, high-intensity discharge, or HID, headlamps like those on the new Impala can help drivers see objects in the road sooner than other types of headlamps, allowing for greater stopping distance.
Impala’s new headlamps are a key to one of the most comprehensive collections of standard and available safety features in the segment. Impala received the highest possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program.
All 2014 Impala models are equipped with projector beam headlamp technology, a first for the redesigned flagship sedan. The LS and LT models use halogen projectors, while the up-level LTZ uses HID bi-functional xenon projectors that offer crisper and brighter illumination.

Chevrolet Silverado Benefits From Extensive Durability Testing

From Chevrolet.com:

Each of those shiny new Silverados in Chevrolet dealerships benefits from 12.5 million miles of durability testing before the first customer ever receives the keys.
From the scorching desert of Yuma, Ariz. to the sub-zero cold of Kapuskasing, Ontario, and the outdoor torture tests of General Motors’ Milford Proving Ground in Milford, Mich., the all-new full-size trucks completed more than 4 million miles of combined vehicle durability testing. In addition, a fleet of test vehicles racked up 8.2 million miles of real-world mileage.
Validation and durability testing pushed the trucks to their limits before they went into production in Silao, Mexico, Flint, Mich., and Fort Wayne, Ind. In many of the tests, the trucks are loaded to gross vehicle weight. While most customers do not drive fully loaded on a regular basis, these tests ensure the Silverado can withstand even the most demanding conditions.
“It takes refinement and testing to build the strength that our customers expect and rely on from their trucks,” said Phillip Hubler, vehicle system engineer. “Our philosophy with the 2014 trucks was to improve what needed to be improved and leave alone what was already considered world class.”

Hands-Free Texting Offered on 2014 Chevrolet Malibu

From Chevrolet.com:

New connectivity features support safer driving
The available Chevrolet MyLink for the 2014 Malibu delivers enhanced connectivity and convenience, with the new Text-to-Voice feature for smartphone users and Siri for iPhone users. Each enables voice-controlled connectivity.
Text-to-Voice converts incoming messages to speech, reads them over the audio system speakers and allows the driver to reply with preset messages such as, “I’m driving and will contact you later.” Users can create and save their own preset messages when the vehicle is in Park. The feature requires a compatible smartphone with Bluetooth profile and applicable text messaging features.
Visit www.gmtotalconnect.com for further information on phone and radio capability. Driver safety is General Motors’ first priority. A driver’s focus should remain on driving and texting can usually wait. So, only text and drive with this voice system and never text using a handheld device while driving.
The 2014 Malibu is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, with pricing starting at $22,965 including destination, but excluding tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional features. All models include a two-year/24-month scheduled maintenance program, which covers four oil changes, tire rotations and 27-point inspections.

Chevrolet Has 7 Models With 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores

From Chevrolet.com:

Among 2014 model year vehicles, Chevrolet offers seven with 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – more than any other brand and more than Ford and Toyota combined.
In New Car Assessment Program testing, NHTSA gave its highest possible 5-star Overall Score to the Chevrolet Sonic, Cruze, Volt, Impala, Traverse, Camaro Coupe and Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. Sonic is the first and only car in the subcompact class to receive a 5-Star Overall Score.
Federal motor vehicle safety standards and safety regulations are included in the design and performance requirements for every new Chevrolet vehicle. About 40 percent of the crash load cases are based on regulatory requirements with the remaining 60 percent based on General Motors’ internal requirements for vehicle safety and crashworthiness, which exceed federal requirements.

More Enjoyable Commute With Full-Speed-Range Adaptive Cruise Control

From Chevrolet.com:

Full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, available on the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, can help reduce the number of repeated stops and starts during every day commuting, which can be stressful for drivers.
The redesigned flagship sedan is the first Chevrolet to offer this technology, which addresses the repetitive task of braking and accelerating via a cruise control system that allows the driver to maintain a driver-selected following gap with the vehicle ahead.
Unlike regular cruise control, the full-speed-range adaptive cruise control system uses forward-looking radar to let the driver choose one of three gaps at which to follow the car ahead. These gaps adapt to the cruise speed selected, so a larger distance between cars at a higher cruise speed is provided. The system can automatically accelerate and brake the vehicle up to moderate levels to maintain the driver-selected gap, and can even work under stop-and-go traffic conditions, such as automated toll booths.
Adaptive Cruise Control still requires the driver to pay careful attention to traffic and road conditions and override the system when necessary by manually accelerating and/or braking.

Stop/Start Technology Standard on 2014 Chevrolet Malibu

From Chevrolet.com:

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu arriving in dealerships this fall will be the first midsize sedan sold in the U.S. to offer fuel-saving stop/start technology standard on its 2.5L base model.
Stop/start technology helps customers conserve fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when the car comes to a stop, such as at stoplights. The engine automatically restarts when the driver takes his or her foot off the brake. During engine restarts, an auxiliary 12-volt battery powers electric accessories such as heating and air conditioning, power windows and radio.
Malibu’s stop/start system monitors – among other things – vehicle speed, climate control system operation and the force a driver applies to the brake pedal, to determine whether it is efficient to shut off the engine in certain driving conditions, such as stop-and-go driving.

Five Star Safety Rating For 2014 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  It is the first pickup truck to receive this rating since the NHTSA changed their New Car Assessment Program in 2011.    The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has many safety features, including:

  • Safety Alert Seat warns the driver of potential traffic danger using directional vibration pulses from the seat cushion. The patented warning approach is tied to all of the on-board crash avoidance systems.
  • Forward collision alert technology helps prevent frontal crashes by alerting the driver when the truck is closing in on a vehicle ahead too quickly, giving him or her additional time to react and avoid a crash.
  • Lane Departure Warning technology alerts the driver when the truck drifts over a lane line when traveling at least 35 mph.
  • Rear Vision Camera with Dynamic Guidelines allows the driver, when in reverse, to view objects directly behind the vehicle via the radio screen in the center stack, allowing for easier parking and backing maneuvers.
  • New, standard lap belt pretensions in the front-seat outboard safety belts.
  • Six standard air bags and 360-degree sensor system, including dual-stage frontal air bags, head-curtain side-impact air bags with rollover protection, and seat-mounted side-impact air bags.
  • Trailer-sway control that works with StabiliTrak to provide the driver with additional assistance when towing a trailer. When it senses trailer sway, it intervenes with braking and/or reduced engine power to bring the trailer under control.
  • Four-wheel, four-channel, antilock disc brakes (ABS) that help provide straight, more controlled stops by preventing wheel lock-up in most road conditions.
  • OnStar is available, using GPS and cellular phone technology to automatically call for help in the event of crash. OnStar service also includes MyLink mobile apps, which offer vehicle information and OnStar services via the customer’s smartphone.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel's Innovative Engine Enhances Performance

From Chevrolet.com:

The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel’s advanced 2.0L engine uses a variable-swirl intake system to create a “perfect storm” of air and fuel that helps enhance performance while reducing emissions.
In Cruze’s variable-swirl intake manifold, each cylinder has two separate intake ports, with one of them controlled by a valve. During variable swirl, each throttle valve varies how much it opens to create mixture-motion of air and fuel within each cylinder. General Motors’ Powertrain team devoted countless hours to calibrating the actuator to precisely open and close the valves for optimal performance.
As a result of this and other advanced powertrain technologies, Cruze’s clean diesel engine offers a segment-leading EPA-estimated 46 mpg highway and range of more than 700 miles per tank – better than any non-hybrid or gasoline-powered passenger car vehicle in America.
