Paying Attention to Tires is Important For Safe Winter Driving

Safe Winter Tires

Having well-maintained tires and the correct type of tires on your vehicle is always important.  This is highlighted even more during inclement weather.  This is a good time to take a look at your tires, before winter road conditions become an issue.  Check your tire pressure often.  Underinflated and overinflated tires both can be an issue, affecting your traction and handling.  Check your tread and the tread wear pattern.  To verify that you have enough tread depth, use the old penny trick.  Using a penny, place into the tire tread with Lincoln's head down.  If you can see most of his hair, it is time to replace your tires.  Be sure to check the tread in several areas since you could have uneven tread wear.

All-weather tires can handle most road conditions but sometimes winter tires, also known as snow tires, can be a good option.  These tires are meant to handle best in snow and icy conditions.  The tire experts at Emich Chevrolet near Denver, Colorado will be happy to answer any questions you have on our super variety of tires.
