Chevrolet has released details on the new eight-speed automatic transmission that will be offered on the 2015 Corvette Stingray. The eight-speed paddle shift automatic transmission is expected to deliver up to 5% greater efficiency as compared to the six-speed automatic. In addition, extensive use of aluminum and magnesium make the transmission about eight pounds lighter and its creative packaging allow the four gear sets and five clutches to fit into the same space as a six-speed.
