Planning a Perfect Road Trip

Planning Perfect Road Trip Emich Chevrolet Near Denver Colorado

Summertime is just around the corner! A road trip is a fabulous way to spend part of your summer.  Road trips can be lots of fun IF you plan correctly! Otherwise, they can become a long and stressful endeavor. Here are some tips on planning the perfect road trip!

* Envision where you want to go. This may seem like an obvious step but there are a lot of activities to plan when you go on a road trip – including the stops for fun so you don’t get bored in the car!

* Plan your road trip depending on your style of travelling. If you are the type who likes plushy hotels instead of roadside motels, plan your route around that fact. If you like to have a set schedule, then set up an itinerary for your trip.

* Figure out how long you will be gone. Because car travelling is a slower form of travel, be sure to plan for the extra time especially if you are fitting the trip into work schedules and other activities. Also check the weather around the week(s) you will be gone to plan alternate routes just in case.

* Budget is key to a road trip – figure out how much you will be needing for gas and how often you will be stopping for food or roadside attractions. Make sure to tune-up your car before the trip so there will hopefully not be surprise expenses along the way.

* Pack a variety of entertainment – especially if you have kids coming! Pack electronics, license plate bingo, MadLibs, books, and more to ensure there are not too many complaints!

* Book hotels ahead of time as it can sometimes be cheaper to do so. Or if you want to be somewhat spontaneous, try packing camping equipment and sleep outdoors!

* If you do not have roadside assistance, purchase a plan so you can feel protected if your vehicle has an issue. Being stranded on the side of the highway without a plan is never a good situation.

* Make sure you have packed a small kit of emergency supplies. These supplies might include a First Aid kit, flashlight, blankets, non-perishable food, water, tools, and even a paper map!
